Dr Gunson was born in the UK. He trained at Southampton University and qualified in 1992.
He worked in general surgery, general medicine, care of the elderly, orthopedics, accident and emergency, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology and ear, nose and throat before commencing his General Practice training.
He completed his General Practice training in 1997 becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and has since become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He, also, has a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists and a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutics.
He worked in General Practice in England for 12 years and has since worked in General Practice in Mooloolaba, Queensland for 5 years.
Oliver is interested in all aspects of General Practice including management of acute illnesses, preventive care and management of chronic medical problems.
Oliver is married to Karen and they have twin boys Will and Sam. Oliver enjoys spending time with his family, getting out and about, reading and watching all things sport - especially Manchester United.
Dr Brits graduated from the University of Free State, South Africa in 1996. He and his family moved to Australia in 2000 when he commenced work in rural Australia. He worked in various specialities in the hospital environment before moving into General Practice.
He passed the Australian Medical Board Examination in 2004 and then went on to become a Fellow of both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural Medicine in 2005. Emile and his family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2009 where Emile has worked as a GP.
Emile enjoys all aspects of General Practice and is happy to see anyone with any problem. Emile speaks fluent Afrikaans.
Dr Boeke trained in the UK. She graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1997. She spent time in hospitals and General Practice in the UK, Australia and South Africa. She and her family moved to Buderim in 2008. She has worked in General Practice on the Sunshine Coast since then.
Christine is happy to see all aspects of General Practice but she has special interests in Family Planning, antenatal care, child health and women’s health.
Christine is married to Rob and has three children, Keira, Ava and Olivia. In her spare time she enjoys walking, camping and spending time with her family.
Dr Muller was born in Queensland. She studied at the University of Queensland graduating in 1988 with MBBS.
After graduation Alison worked in various areas of medicine including Accident and Emergency, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Paediatrics and Anaesthetics.
Alison then undertook her General Practice training and attained her Fellowship of The Royal College of General Practitioners in 1995.
Since then Alison has worked in a variety of general practices in New South Wales and Victoria. Alison relocated back to the Sunshine Coast in 2006.
Alison enjoys all forms of General Practice. She has a particular interest in Paediatric Medicine and Allergic Medicine, encompassing all forms of allergic illness including food allergy and intolerances.
Alison has completed a Graduate Certificate in Allergic Diseases through the University of Western Sydney. She works closely with the allergy specialists in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Alison has two daughters, Madeline and Georgina. She enjoys walking, gardening and music.
Dr Nissen was born in Queensland and raised on the Sunshine Coast. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with dual degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science. She spent three years at various Sunshine Coast Hospitals in a variety of different specialities, including paediatrics, ENT, palliative care, geriatric orthopaedics, cardiology and emergency, amongst others.
Casey has completed a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Westmead, Sydney. She also has a Professional Certificate in Dermoscopy (skin care).
She has spent 2019 working in various clinics throughout Australia, including remote Aboriginal Health Services.
She is looking forward to settling down permanently on the Sunshine Coast. She enjoys all forms of general practice.
Dr Hanks graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013. After graduation she moved to the Sunshine Coast where she worked in many different hospital specialties, with a particular focus on internal medicine specialties. She has most recently been working in Cairns where she completed her general practice training.
Alison has completed the Sydney Child Health Program from the University of Westmead and Family Planning National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health (theory component). She is interested in all aspects of primary care - particularly child health, preventative care and chronic disease management. She also enjoys medical education and is involved in teaching medical students.
Alison met her husband when first working on the Sunshine Coast and has recently relocated with him and their pets to the Sunshine Coast where they are closer to family and the beaches they love. She is expecting her first baby in August.
Jay will be commencing working at Ocean Family Medicine in April 2020.
Jay finished his Bachelor of Podiatry in 2015 at the University of Newcastle. Jay gained an interest in Podiatric medicine when he was playing AFL for the Sydney Swans. Being at the elite level gave him a great insight and interest in sports bio-mechanics and lower limb injuries.
Along with his passion for all things sport Jay also has an interest in diabetic assessment, nail surgery and Pediatrics. Jay uses the most up-to-date evidence based practice when it comes to his patients needs, ensuring they get the best results possible.
Jay is a member of the Australian Podiatry Association and is also a qualified personal trainer. When Jay isn't in the clinic he enjoys surfing, snowboarding, playing AFL and continuing his personal development in the field of Podiatry.
Karen is practice manager at Ocean Family Medicine and has completed a Certificate IV in Professional Practice Management and a Diploma in Professional Practice Leadership. Prior to this Karen was a registered nurse specialising in oncology/haematology nursing and more recently worked as an infusion nurse for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis patients.
Karen is married with twin boys. She enjoys keeping fit, reading, bush-walking, cycling and travelling.
