Dr Gunson was born in the UK. He trained at Southampton University and qualified in 1992.
He worked in general surgery, general medicine, care of the elderly, orthopedics, accident and emergency, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology and ear, nose and throat before commencing his General Practice training.
He completed his General Practice training in 1997 becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and has since become a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He, also, has a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstreticians and Gynaecologists and a Postgraduate Diploma in Therapeutics.
He worked in General Practice in England for 12 years and has since worked in General Practice in Mooloolaba, Queensland for 5 years.
Oliver is interested in all aspects of General Practice including management of acute illnesses, preventive care and management of chronic medical problems.
Oliver is married to Karen and they have twin boys Will and Sam. Oliver enjoys spending time with his family, getting out and about, reading and watching all things sport - especially Manchester United.
Dr Brits graduated from the University of Free State, South Africa in 1996. He and his family moved to Australia in 2000 when he commenced work in rural Australia. He worked in various specialities in the hospital environment before moving into General Practice.
He passed the Australian Medical Board Examination in 2004 and then went on to become a Fellow of both the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Australian College of Rural Medicine in 2005. Emile and his family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2009 where Emile has worked as a GP.
Emile enjoys all aspects of General Practice and is happy to see anyone with any problem. Emile speaks fluent Afrikaans.
Dr Nissen was born in Queensland and raised on the Sunshine Coast. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013 with dual degrees in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science. She spent three years at various Sunshine Coast Hospitals in a variety of different specialities, including paediatrics, ENT, palliative care, geriatric orthopaedics, cardiology and emergency, amongst others.
Casey has completed a Diploma in Child Health from the University of Westmead, Sydney. She also has a Professional Certificate in Dermoscopy (skin care).
She has spent 2019 working in various clinics throughout Australia, including remote Aboriginal Health Services.
She is looking forward to settling down permanently on the Sunshine Coast. She enjoys all forms of general practice.
Dr Alahakoon grew up in a small town in the Northern Territory and studied Medicine at James Cook University in Townsville. Dr Lorna completed 4 years at multiple hospitals on the Sunshine Coast and is now in the process of completing her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General practitioners (FRACGP).
Dr Lorna enjoys all aspects of general practice, but especially the areas of women's health, paediatrics, and preventative medicine.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening and keeping fit.
Dr Hanks graduated from the University of Queensland in 2013. After graduation she moved to the Sunshine Coast where she worked in a range of medical specialty areas. She completed her general practice training in Cairns before moving back to the Sunshine Coast with her husband and young family.
Alison is able to provide care in all areas of general practice but has a special interest in chronic disease management, preventative care, family planning, and child health - including supporting new families. She has completed the Sydney Child Health Program from the University of Westmead (formerly known as Diploma of Child Health) and Family Planning National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health.
She is also accredited in Neuroprotective Developmental Care, otherwise known as the ‘Possums program’ where she aims to support families with challenges they may be facing as new parents. This includes breastfeeding challenges, baby sleep and cry-fuss problems, and parent mental health.
When not working, Alison is busy looking after her own young child and exploring the coast with her family and pet dog.
Jay finished his Bachelor of Podiatry in 2015 at the University of Newcastle. Jay gained an interest in Podiatric medicine when he was playing AFL for the Sydney Swans. Being at the elite level gave him a great insight and interest in sports bio-mechanics and lower limb injuries.
Along with his passion for all things sport Jay also has an interest in diabetic assessment, nail surgery and Pediatrics. Jay uses the most up-to-date evidence based practice when it comes to his patients needs, ensuring they get the best results possible.
Jay is a member of the Australian Podiatry Association and is also a qualified personal trainer. When Jay isn't in the clinic he enjoys surfing, snowboarding, playing AFL and continuing his personal development in the field of Podiatry.

Emma is a qualified Dietitian and Nutritionist who graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics. Emma is passionate about helping people through food and nutrition while using a holistic and evidence-based approach.
Emma understands the importance of providing personalized nutrition advice that is tailored to the individual and supports their goals.
Emma has a keen interest in the prevention and management of chronic diseases and she is particularly interested in:
- Diabetes (Type 2, Prediabetes and Gestational diabetes)
- Weight management and
- Mental health
When collaborating with clients, Emma uses an approach that is client-centred, realistic and practical to assist with achieving optimum health and wellbeing. In her free time Emma enjoys camping, surfing, playing AFL and touch and running around with her kelpie.

Karen is practice manager at Ocean Family Medicine and has completed a Certificate IV in Professional Practice Management and a Diploma in Professional Practice Leadership. Prior to this Karen was a registered nurse specialising in oncology/haematology nursing and more recently worked as an infusion nurse for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis patients.
Karen is married with twin boys. She enjoys keeping fit, reading, bush-walking, cycling and travelling.
